Power steering cooler standard on Rams ?

We are having a discussion on another board about the desirability of a power steering cooler for towing . One guy claims that Rams came standard with such a cooler , yet I sure don't see any such thing on my "97 2500/Cummins/5-speed .

Was such a cooler ever standard equipment on Rams ? Or maybe included with 2nd gneration factory towing packages ?

A search of this board doesn't turn up anything on power steering coolers .

My Mom's 1996 has a P/S cooler under the radiator.

But my 2002 doesn't have P/S cooler as far as I know of...

The biggest thing I could say in that event is to change you P/S fluid in the system every 30K or every 3 yrs. Some are going to Syn. Fluids to reduce the pump whining in colder weather...

good question

My '95 V10 came with a power steering cooler, but neither my '96 12V or my 98.5 24V have one. My brother's 2003 HPCR came with a cooler. I'm not sure why the 2nd gen diesels didn't have coolers. I think the gasser trucks with the tow package option came with steering coolers.

I do not remember what years have the brake booster powered by the power steering pump, but I would think that since you have two very important systems running off of the power steering pump, that it would be a good thing to have. I have been thinking of getting one for my truck. I always liked the B&M supercoolers and Mocal oil coolers.
