power steering box leaking

My 99 truck's steering box is leaking a horrendous amount of oil out of the bottam (where the shaft comes out). Anyone ever change these seals, O-rings? Can I buy a kit?
thanks,
Doug

If the seal is leaking, be sure its just normal wear that is cauing it. Generally speaking, a seal has to have a cause to leak, other than its being worn.

Check for end and side play in the shaft. If either of these is present, forget the seal kit, and get a new steering box. Its not unusual for these trucks to need a new steering box (its a GM design from the 70's) especially with the diesel engine.

I'm on my fourth, at 85k.

Same problem on my 98 12 valve, The kit is available. But, if the shaft has worn it will still leak, I bought a reconditioned gearbox from autozone for 166 bucks if I remember right. lifetime warranty and feels great to steer.
