Polishing a Windshield

I have micro scratches from my wipers in the glass. No chips, cracks or anything else.

These scratches cannot be felt with a fingernail but they are an annoyance in bright sun, glare, or on coming headlights at night.

I know they sell kits to polish and I think some glass shops can do it. Has anyone tried it and had it done? Worth the money or should I get the glass changed out?

Get new glass. Windshields get mini pitted fast. Nothing like a new windshield.

You can't polish windscreen glass evenly. You will get blurry spots from changing the flatness unevenly.

Get a new windscreen as sug't.

If you have micro scratches from the wipers then you need to remember not to turn them on until the windshield is really wet. Dust settles on the dry wipers and then during the first few strokes when it rains, you turn the wipers on and they're literally scratching the glass until the rain water cleans everything up. This also destroys the nice edge of the wiper blades and then they stop working good too.

New glass is $235 plus tax. I think that is my best option. I think the PO must have been in a very dusty area and ran wipers to knock off the dust. Very bad streaks in the glass. For the cost difference I'll go new. It looks like original glass so fresh glass will be very nice!

I've worn eyeglasses since I was three. A new windshield is like getting new glasses. It's a treat.
The windshield on my 2nd gen was Hecho in Mexico and distorted. When I got my American made one all was good.

I have a few decent rock chips and the beginning of a running crack off to the low side so I know I'll be needing a new one soon when that crack takes off. I'm just reluctant because its like a bird waiting for you to finish washing your car..... As soon as I get a new one then somehow it becomes a new target.

Yeah, I know what you're sayin...

Got a new windshield in the Tahoe back in 2006, had two driver's side rock chips within a few months, bot at eye level...
