My Dad has the OEM BFG Rugged Trail's on his '03 CTD and he's gotten 50k out of them and he hasn't done a real good job of rotating them. Off road they really suck but on road they ride pretty good and have decent traction.

Goodyear Wrangler RT/S
I am running with Goodyear Wrangler RT/S Load Range E tires and currently at 65,000 miles with lots to go. I rotate every 10,000 miles. Can't go wrong with these tires.
On previous truck I ran with Michelin A/S and they lasted over 80,000 miles. Again rotating every 10,000 miles.

I have had problems w/ Badyear and General. The Badyears had tread separation from the casing like a recap on two tires of the original equip. tires. The Generals had two blowouts on smooth pavement w/ a light load. I go Mich. all the way. I run the ATX APT and they do well on a variety of surfaces, but they aren't a mud tire. Have had them in the mud a few times with 15 rolls of hay on the trailer without a tow truck but the mud was flyin'!

OK, last set of Michelins on my sons 96 2500 extended cab cummins produced
90,000 miles. They were XPS Ribs. They were racing slicks at 90k but still 90k.
Its the way to go if you don't have to worry about snow. They are not as good in heavy rain as the LTX M/S. You just have to slow down a little bit with the xps in heavy rain.

i bought the truck with ATS's on it and decided to go with Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers just because they were onsale for $450 out the door with road hazard at my local GoodYear store but after reading and being a tire tech at goodyear i have installed alot of the new Wrangler SilentArmor tires on 3/4 to 1-ton trucks lately and they have ballanced out pretty well. There suppose to be puncture resistant but ive done a couple flat repairs on them already. They are similar in tread design to the BFG A/T but they have water sips in them so my next set of tires will be the Wrangler SilentArmor and i would recommended them to anybody. Plus there a 60k tire and free Roadside assistant if you get stuck 100 feet from a main road they will pay the towtruck bill. just my .02 though

I run the Toyo M55's on my CTD. I've only got 1000miles on them so far, but I'm on my third set on my company truck. I get about 45,000 miles per set, but the truck is always fully loaded, and the truck sees a lot of gravel. They get good traction in the snow and mud too!
