Picture of Rocker Panels welded in

A while ago Diesel Dave2 posted on here about his rocker panel replacement, and seeing that post made me hurry up and get going since i had had my rocker panels sitting around my house just waiting for some spare time. Well here are some pictures of the process, it took me about 8 hours per side, not including paint, only primer.

This is what I started with: Bottom seam just bubbled and rusted

This is the fitment of the replacement panel, I used a permanent marker to mark around the replacement panel, then used a spot weld cutter to cut the spot welds out, next i used the plasma cutter the cut the metal away for fitment. I was concerned with fire so every step I did whether it was grinding or cutting a fire extinguisher was close by, didnt want to set me CTD on fire.

This is the final product before paint, mig welded, grinded, body fillered, and primed. Now all its gonna take, is a little time before I can get around to painting them.

Yeah its kind of a pain, and now i realize why body shops charge so much! But it was worth it...just makes the truck look so much cleaner again.

I got the rocker panels at the a local body panel place. It cost $85.00 a piece. The only body shop training i have is watching some videos from the library, reading some books, and asking questions at the paint and body store. I just took my time and did things one step at a time.

That's why I spent 600$ and picked up a 94 Jeep cherokee to drive in the winter , and keep the salt off my low mile 12V (158K). i'm in atlantic canada , so we use ALOT of salt here.
