I have a early 2002, Built in Oct 2001. Only one overload spring each side....what factory refers to "Springs - Rear Auxiliary". Listed separately (??), on Factory Build Sheet from "Trailer Tow Group" and from "Camper Special Group".

By shorting the spring blocks it will reduce the ride height of the rear of the truck. Refer to

On my 99 I have pulled a lot of trailers a lot of miles, 208,000 and going strong!
I installed the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System, doesn't effect the ride empty and really improves the ride and load capicity loaded.
