overhead console/thermometer sensor location
Hi, I have a chance to grab an overhead console with the thermostat and electronic compass from a 95 this afternoon, and was hoping someone could tell me where to find the sensor for thermostat. Also, if anyone has a wiring diagram they could post or e-mail, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The sensor should be located behind the grill near the hood release mechanism. It's about and inch and half long and is mounted horizontally if memory serves me.

The sensor is is a little towards center from behind the driver's side headlight on the radiator support. Can't miss it, it's the only thing with wires going to it in that area.

Thanks, guys. I think I got it. It was just hanging down behind the bumper under the headlight. Now all I need is a wiring diagram. Has anybody done this before?

Not much to it, it's a resistor. Two wires. If I'm reading it right, they go to a junction block and then to the overhead unit (probably in a bundle).
The thing about the wiring diagrams in the FSM that makes them difficult to post here is that they're spread out over pages and pages, with little coded references that refer back to other pages, so what you're really looking at is one multi-page diagram. If you decide to tackle the project of putting that overhead in there, you might want to borrow or buy a FSM to use.

Thanks, again, Jim, I have the console and the sensor. Unfortunately, I didn't get the wiring harness from the donor truck. The connector for the sensor is available on my truck, but not the in-cab wiring. I can probably figure out which connections are power and ground, if they use the same ones as the lights, finding the connection for the sensor wires will be a littlte harder. I think I should go ahead and get the FSM... Can you tell from the service manual what the pin out is at the console?

I can't seem to get anything other than the list attached to the message. The connector is square looking, numbered starting with cavity 1 at the upper right as shown in the FSM, through cavity 6 on the top row, 7-12 on the bottom row.

Thanks, that should be enough information to get it hooked up. Now I'm hoping the electronic compass sensor is built into the console and not somewhere else. I don't have access to that truck anymore.
