i may be mistaken...but i think it means, Calibrate, compass and direction.
put it on the heading application....hold both bottons down and drive in a 360* circle at least 60' in diameter...this will calibrate the compass and give you the correct direction....
when i did it..it took like 3 complete circles....then NORTH was finally NORTH.
NCA
ps..i could be wrong but hey its an easy thing to check.

Mine did that too. We were in MT last summer and it was about 106 degrees and the overhead read Ccd and would intermittently go back to the compass, temp reading. Can anyone confirm if the meaning of Ccd is for the compass or the collision detection?

i just called 2 of the Dodge dealers in my area, about my truck doing the same thing.
they said it could be the compass needing to be re calibrated, but its hard to tell for sure with out hooking it up and running a diagnostic check on it.
id say start with re calibrating the compass and see if that fixes the problem, and go from there.

Mine ususally reads ccd. However, when I go down to El Centro, it starts working properly. I go there at least once a month so I have repeated this anomaly. I can drive all over SoCal and it reads ccd, go there and it works. Go figure.

I am sure J Body will correct this statement if it needs it, but CCD being displayed can mean any one of several things might be wrong. Best way to diagnose is with DRBIII scan tool.
".....The Chrysler Collision Detection (also referred to as CCD or C2D ) data bus system is a multiplex system used for vehicle communications on many Chrysler Corporation vehicles. Within the context of the CCD system, the term “collision“ refers to the system’s ability to avoid collisions of the electronic data that enters the data bus from various electronic control modules at approximately the same time...."

Just a side note about calibrating the compass, for best results, you should tell it what zone your are in to account for magnetic deviation.
Here are the zones:
ZONE METHOD
(1) Using the Variance Settings map, find your
geographic location and note the zone number (Fig.
2).
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the On position. If
the compass/temperature data is not currently being
displayed, momentarily depress and release the Step
push button to step through the display options until
you have reached the compass/temperature display.
(3) Depress both the U.S./Metric and the Step
push buttons at the same time and hold them down
for more than 100 milliseconds, but not more than
one second. The compass mini-trip computer will
enter the variation adjustment mode and “VAR”
along with the current variance zone will appear in
the display.
(4) Momentarily depress and release the Step push
button to step through the zone numbers, until the
zone number for your geographic location appears in
the display.
(5) After five seconds, the displayed zone will automatically
be set in the compass mini-trip computer
module memory and normal operation will resume.
(6) Confirm that the correct directions are now
indicated by the compass.

....and once you go into the "calibration" mode you will note small letters that say "cal" under the temp compass.......and they you drive in circles and pray that it decided to calibrate. Some go easy.......and some test your will.
Shine a flashlight at the panel and you'll see the letters.
...any chance when the "CCD" appears the odometer also says "no bus". Usually they go hand in hand.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was nervous because anything related to the computer in my truck causes me issues...three honks at unlock....J-body knows what I'm talking about. Strangely my truck only did this one time in Eastern MT. Could strong magnetic fields cause this also? My 02 Chev's compass did this sort of thing in Utah a couple of years ago, but both occurences the temp was over 105 F. Go figure? Kurt
