Oil Pressure coming up slowly?
Past few days I've noticed that my oil pressure gauge takes longer to finally rise up to the middle part of the gauge....The oil pressure does get up to where it's supposed to be on the gauge but it seems to take longer than normal....What could be the problem? Could this be a bad oil pressure sensor?

the oil sender is well known to fail, typically no oil pressure or the gauge is pinned to the hi posn, even when the truck is off (with the ignition on)
the signal to the gauge is manulipated buythe PCM, the PCM decides where it thinks the gauge should read based off temp/rpm.
it is not an accurate gauge by any means and you should not trust it. if your worried about the speed of your gauge movement, try hooking up a temp mechanical gauge to verify oil pressure

I just started having a similar issue, the gauge stays pegged at 0 for a few miles then jumps right up to where its supposed to be. When I monitor it through the edge, it stays at 0 until the factory gauge comes up, after that the edge reads right at 100 with absolutely no fluctuation. This just started so I haven't even begun trouble shooting it yet, any thoughts?

Last time I had my truck running.. My oil pressure gauge would take about 10-20 seconds to come up to pressure..
Will replacing the sender cure this problem..?
It has never been a problem, just bothersome at startup......

I edventually replaced mine because it would trip the chime and that was annoying, it cost me 80$ for a new sender,
Hard to say if it will fix your slow to start oil pressure issue.

Make sure to buy new senders from Cummins.
If you buy a generic from the auto parts be prepared to replace it again shortly.
The generic senders are designed for gassers and just can't take the vibration of a diesel.

I have the same issues with my '01. I stopped in cummins/bridgeway dealer and picked up the new sending unit for $89+tax.
Where is the sending unit located? I can see a sensor that looks similar. located to the rear of the block past the fuel filter housing... mounted under the oil dipstick housing? I am not so sure it is the same one...
