Every time I shut off my truck, the odometer trip resets itself back to zero. What is wrong with it? Never heard of this problem before, but the truck probobly has more miles than what the odometer reads.. hence, the trip can be at 16.9 and the total miles at 190445 but when i shut it off I lose that 0.9 mi. and the truck is still at 190445 when I start it again but the trip is at 0.0. Has anyone heard of this before?

i would say that the electronics package in the instrument cluster has gone whacky.

Do an instrument cluster test. Press and hold trip reset button for 10 sec while turn key on. (don't start eng). You will see CHEC come up, if anything is wrong it'll throw codes at you. I'm not sure but I think the distance signal comes from the PCM.

I had the same problem. I had a blown fuse. I think it was fuse 12 or fuse 14 Check your fuses
