no speedo

i have a 99 5spd the other day had the cruise on and it shut off and speedo quit workin. when your doin 70 the speedo says ur doin 5mph. the abs and brake lights have been on since i got the truck. i pulled the speed sensoron the rear diff and checked it and got over 1800 ohms. any ideas on what to check next? it sucks not havin cruise

Do you have 4 wheel ABS? If so there are sensors on each front wheel as well. Before you replace the rear sensor try this. Get the truck up to speed on a highway, etc. With your left foot, pull up on the rear of the brake pedal and try to set the cruise. If it sets then I would replace the stoplight switch. This may also make the ABS and brake light go out. If so then you're good. If not replace the sensor and see if that solves the problem.

Lack of speedo says rear sensor is bar, or the wires going to it. I had a broken wire from my speed sensor by the front mount of the leaf spring. Caused the speedo to jump around on every frost heave in the road (theres a lot of them).
