need front shocks and track bar on new 12V

I am buying a new 98 12 valve. I had the front end checked due to some excessive noise. They told me that the Track Bar needs to be replaced and the front shocks have NO bushings. The noise is probably from the shocks not having bushings. I guess I need shocks in the front but don't want to buy them new as I was planning on lifting it within the next 5 or 6 months. Any ideas on how to get by without spending $200 on new shocks that I will just want to replace in the near future. The shop wanted $350 for the Track Bar. Give me your thoughts and ideas. Thanks....

I buy lifetime warrantied trackbars from Napa for $130, might have to replace it every 30k or so but at least it's free and a easy job.

If it were me, just buy some new bushings, or I've got a couple of stock front shocks that are still in good shape. PM me if you want 'em. As far as the track bar goes I would spend the money and take care of it for good. I planned on going the lifetime warranty route, I don't know if I got a bad batch or what, but I went through 2 in 3 1/2 weeks. The last time death wobble it was on the freeway, and I pulled onto the shoulder to let it straighten out and that's when I got nailed by the drunk driver. The next day I was on the phone to DT profab and ordered the $360 bar with a heim joint and a bushing. I certainly don't regret it.

Remove two nuts and pound the bolts out with the tires on the ground.
About 10 minutes.

Sweet. This is good news. Easy to do job. Crimedog, where would I buy shock bushings? As for the track bar, how long do the profab ones last compared to the NAPA. I may just spend the extra cash if it will last a long time. I would rather not mess with it again if I don't have to. who is DT profab and how do I get ahold of them? Thanks everyone for your input and info. This site rules.

Lifted the truck tonight and checked the ball joints and all seemed good there still pretty tight. Its just when I am goin down the road even on new pavment it just shakes all to heck and its down right anoying

"Hey guys obvisouly I have a 96 2500 Dodge and while I am driving down the road it shudders kind of like a bad vibration I just dont know how to explain it but while your driveing it feels like you shakin up and down. I am leaning towards bad shocks all the way around beings that there factory 96 shocks what ovther things should I look for?"

Dodgecowboy83: sounds like you have a tire problem. Jack up the truck and spin each wheel and see if they're still round.

DT Profab is a fab shop, their address is www.dtprofab.com Click on Dodge track bar. I agree that it is really easy to pop the old one out and a new one in. When my 2 went, it wasn't slow. It was fine until all of a sudden you could feel the resonence start and BANG, death wobble. To me that's a pretty big safety concern, and I don't even want to think about how many I would eat up during plowing season The DT has been flawless for me and well worth the money. I should hope those words mean something, since I'm a senior in high school, so cash doesn't exactly flow to well for me

You should be able to get shock bushings from NAPA or any parts store.
