Need bolt size...

Headed home tonight to do the ball joints this weekend. What size head is on the Hub bearing to spindle assembly? I want to pick up a "throw away" extension and socket so I don't ruin my good stuff. Thanks for the info!

If you are talking about the 4 inward facing bolts, then I had to use a 12 pt 14mm socket.

Hopefully we are talking about the same thing. - Craig

If you are talking about the large nut that is on the outside of the hub and has the cotter pin thru it I use an 1 11/16" socket, it's a little big but it works...be prepared if it hasn't been loose for a while it will be tighter than tight.

thanks for the response guys....yes I was talking about the 4 inward 12pt 14mm. I got home before I read this and had to use the stuff I had. Luckily my hub wasn't stuck all that bad. I got my Balljoints done in a little over 7 hours. Not too bad this time. I only did one side also.. Thanks for the info though.

That sounds like a big job. My daughters truck needs it bad. With a shortage of good independent wrenchers in this area, we might be doing the same here.
