need advice which one, 2nd gen 12v,24v,or early 3 gen

im in the market for a truck to upgrade from my current 93 club cab 4x4 cummins 5 speed

looking for advice
which would be the best choice
truck must be a rust free ext cab long bed 5 or 6 speed

12v 2nd gen I realize it wont have the rear doors but is it worth if for the 12 v reliability

24 v I realize the vp problems

or should I look for a 2003 or early 2004 3rd gen

which would you guys choose , thanks for the info

The 3003's won't be out for a while....but I would go with a nice 3rd gen 5.9 with 6 speed.

I drive my 01.5 still because I have over 12K in upgrades/repairs and it is pretty reliable and still looks new. However, after being in quite a few newer ones, I like the 4 door longbed common rails and wouldn't hesitate on a clean one.....

Just my $.02

I'm a 12V kind of guy, so to me, find a club cab 12V 97 5 speed and be happy.

I do have to say though, the crew cabs are nice....... If I were to go to the space age, it would be a 2003-2006 common rail.

What is wrong with your 93? Have you decided what you are going to do with it?

92

I'm in the same situation..have my 92 but hate the auto. in the bush..tired of getting thrown around in the cab, and need more room...from what I have been reading, seems most fellas are leaning towards the third gen. stuff. recently I went on a moose hunt and drove my friends 03 4 door long box, 6 spd. while a bit long for turning around in the mountains, it was a real nice truck to drive, good power, decent fuel economy, and after banging around in my 92, I found the ride was considerably smoother...this is the type of truck I'm leaning towards.

Be patient, I looked at a bunch before I finally found mine, but I had a hunch it was the right one and went for it. No regrets after 100K miles.
