Napa track bar

I purchased a NAPA track bar and it lasted two years. It has a lifetime warranty but I can not find my receipt. Does NAPA keep records of the warranties? Or is it only warrantied with a receipt? How much are they now if I have to purchase one? Thanks....

Dave

Always a day late, and a dollar short.

If the store updated the computers, they should be able to print off a receipt.
If not, running about $200-$250.

They told me I had to have the original receipt.
It's been two years but the last time I traded mine in for a new one they were $149. It was actually cheaper then then it was when I originally bought the first Napa bar in 1997. I've been getting at least 70k out of each bar, four replacements since '97

I just got mine... I asked about it and the guy said I need to keep the receipt...I'm having a hard time installing mine with the 2" lift spacers, I can't get the frame socket end to fully seat.... I'm going to try and compress the front end with my back hoe bucket on the plow frame and see how that works...

Thuren trackbar.

You guys ought to try the adjustable tc from Don Thuren. A little more money, but it should be the last one you buy.

With tires on the ground have someone else turn the steering wheel while you guide the socket in.

+1 To hell with trying to keep a receipt through moves and "vanishing ink" on thermal paper. Sure, it's lifetime warrantied...IF

Second the Thuren bar. After years of frustration being disorganized with paper work I finally got a folder and put every truck rec't in it and my problems vanished. Not bragging, just helped me out alot and freed up a lot of my time. I sound like my father now so I'll quit typi

Well I guess it's a hard chose, the price of a new file folder or the price of a new track bar. I don't know, it's a tough one.

here is a real stupid question but i am new to these trucks : how do i know if I need a track bar, and is this something from the factory that goes bad and needs replacing or is this something aftermarket? sorry for the stupidity but my truck tracks all over the road and has since I got it new, just wondering if this will help, or am I off base again?

Just follow the instructions here http://dodgeram.info/tsb/1996/02-06-96.htm but skip the dial indicator, if the play is over 0.080" anyone can see with the their own eyes.
0.080 is basically any movement at all

SO what I looking at tells me that this is for the 97 and older trucks, I have an 01 so this doesn't affect me right?

Just have someone turn the steering wheel while your looking under the front. Any play, you need to change it. Don't waste your time with a OEM replacement. It won't last long. Get something good like a Solid Steel or a Thuren. I got the SS Adjustable and love it!

On my truck the worn out TB manifested itself in slight changes in tracking of the truck. Sometimes after a turn, straight driving would be at a bit of a different angle of the steering wheel than other times. When my DW rocked the steering wheel back and forth with me watching, I could easily see motion in the frame side ball joint of the track bar. Replaced it and centered the steering wheel at the same time, $129 from Advanced Auto Parts, lifetime warranty.
