check your wires for fraying/wear. it seems the hot wire (black) is exposed somewhere and what you are feeling is the current grounding out to your body. good luck.

Yeah, if they salt the roads where you are and your truck is covered with road grime you have created a very low resistance path to ground. You've probably got a frayed extension cord, block heater cord(most common) or a bad outlet on the house. You can replace just the block heater cord if you need it. Maybe somebody will drop the part # for you. Kurt

Was it wet outside when this happened? I had that happen to me twice when it was wet, even though there was nothing wrong with the plug/socket (aside from being wet).
I have replaced my cord, when mine went bad, and installed Marinco sockets. The pins are physically isolated from the truck. Unless its really wet, you won't have a problem with these (they are weather resistant).

Here ya go, I don't like the 20 amp plug, I would prefer a 15 amp, that way you could get a cord anywhere. I will continue to look for one with a 15 amp plug.
The price seems incredibly cheap though.........

Ah, better, more money, but any cord would work.

ok, so i guess the first step is to trace the block heater cord and check for fraying, is this correct? and if its frayed then the answer is obvious, replace it.
and yes it was wet out 'jrs dodge diesel'

Having said that, you still need to find out if you have a frayed wire so you or another person doesn't get electrocuted by touching your truck in the rain.

Someone had posted about installing one of those on their truck last year, but I don't remember who it was. Definitely wanting to find out the same thing though!
