My Delima
Hello,
I am new to this forum but not to my truck. 1995 Dodge std. cab, auto, few mods, minor ones. rebuilt the entire front end after the KDP got me at 179,000 miles.
I have a lot invested in the mechanics of the truck but the body has gone south quickly. Here is what I am proposing to do about it.
Looking through one of the local trader papers I found advertised a 3/4 ton 2000 Ram 2wd gas truck. I bout the truck really cheap. The body is not perfect but close to it. interior is trashed.
I am going to try to switch the entire body from this truck to mine.
The only thing I am going to have trouble with, I think, is the dash wiring.
Any pointers or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am going to replace the heater core and the A/C evap. while I am there.
Anyting else I should check, replace?
I am thinking of replacing the auto with a 5spd.
The truck I bought for parts is a 5spd and after driving it home I remembered how much better it was to shift your own gears.
I have not like that auto since the first day I bought my truck.
I will have all the pedals and hyd. clutch release stuff form the donor truck.
Almost seems a shame to tear apart the 2000 model truck. High miles and it runs great.
Thanks in advance.

Well the 00 is a gasser. Could not put the CTD in without a title issue.Would wind up with wiring issues in all probability.
Now you can put the 00 parts on the 95 with no issues title wise, in my opinion. Believe everything is almost a bolt on job. Well, I'm sure something will manifest itself. You migh be able to arrange the wiring at cowl connector for inside wiring. Need complete wiring diagrams for each. Convert to manual tranny of choice while you're at it, and make yourself happy there. Flywheel, clutch, and bellhousing might be scored at same time tranny was found.
Go ahead and clean up 00 body and make really nice unit. JMHO
