Lowering/Leveling truck?
What is the simplest way to lower the rear end of my truck and hopefully not hurt the towing capability? Besides shackle changes I have been told to possibly remove the axle block between leafs and rear axle. All suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Re:Lowering/Leveling truck?
I took that into the local dealership when I got my rig. They want $700.
I'll build my own shorter blocks for the back, and not loose the overloads.

Re:Lowering/Leveling truck?
I lowered the rear of my truck 2 3/4". Took out the next to the bottom leaf in the main spring pack off. That yielded me 1 3/4". Flipped the overload on the main pack at the same time so it won't be bumped when unloaded. Took the 1" block out on the very bottom and also took the 1" block that separates the main pack and overloads on top. Had to remove the block to lower the overloads so they won't be hitting the perches when unloaded.
I did it because of looks and ride quality. It rides 10 times better since I removed that one leaf and it sets better now. Stock wise, the rear was setting 5" higher then the front.
I am actually going to put the 1" block back in since I put new tires and wheels on the other day. I put on some 235/85/16 on the front and 33x12.50/16.5 on the back. The back tires are taller and fill in more wheel well so I am going raise it back up a hair.
Later,
Justin

What about lifting the front of the truck to match the height of the rear?
It is rather inexpensive to do. I checked Summit Racing Equipment's Catalog. They offer a product that works with Dodge Trucks.
Hear is the product info.
Why settle for your truck’s front end sitting lower than the rear when you can use a Summit leveling kit to fix the problem? Kits for Ford Super Duty include progressive leaf packs, track bar relocating bracket, and U-bolts. Kits for Dodge and Toyota use upper coil spring spacers, which lift the vehicle
without giving up that comfy ride. Price/Kit
SUM-G781 1999-2003 Ford Super Duty 4WD, gas, 2.5" lift...........$269.95
SUM-G782 1999-2003 Ford Super Duty 4WD, diesel, 2.5" lift........$294.95
SUM-G783 1994-2002 Dodge Ram 1500,
1994-2003 Ram 2500, 3500, 4WD, 2" lift .....................$136.95
SUM-G784 1999-2002 Toyota Tundra, 2" lift ....................................$89.95

I also agree that the back end is too tall. Mine measures 2 1/2" taller than the front. I'm going to lower the rear too. It is on my to do list, for my recently purchased truck. Lifting the front seems foolish for my application. I got some shorter blocks and just need shorter u bolts, I think.

lowering 2003/2004 4x4
Will the lowering kit referred to by dodgeram work the 2003/2004 dodge 4x4. I went to the tsb 02-001-01 and it was for 1994-2001, model years. Does this void warenty?. Is this only a problem with the dodge 4x4 or all 4x4.

I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can. I don't know for sure if it will fit an 03/04, but at a casual look, they look the same.
As to voiding the warranty. It should not. They are genuine Mopar parts, so you should be good to go.
As to this being a problem for 4X4's. It seems to be pecular to Dodge only. The other companies may be off (from level) by an inch or two, but for whatever reason Dodge is way off from level. It makes no sense to me why Dodge did it this way.

I had the same problem with my 5ver. I didn't want to lower the rear end of the truck, so I "flipped" the axles on the 5ver. Now it matches up perfectly. I do not have any problems with the 5ver ride quality either.

Im wanting to do the same thing to my truck. I was just gonna have a local machine shop cut my factory spacer blocks down. Anyone know where I could buy some shorter U-bolts?
(Actually, Id love to lower it all the way around, but a custom shop around here told me that lowering a 4x4 Dodge is a no-no, unless I want to cut and relocate the front spring perches, get custom springs made, shorten the bump-stops, and get a new front drive-shaft made.)
