lost a hubcap
Well, after reading a few months ago about a poor guy up in Canada (if I remember correctly) loosing hubcaps off his factory rims, I, too have fallen victim. I'm pretty sure it jsut fell off, but it is possible someone needed one, saw I had four and figured I wouldn't miss just one (it was the right rear thats MIA). I ran back through my route, and couldn't find it, but my guess is, that if it hit the ground doing 55, its probably toast anyway. Thankfully I found one from a friend of mine who has an extra set of wheels. But just an FYI, it might be a good idea to give em an old kick once and a while to make sure they are fully seated.

I lost one after getting new tires last year. A guy saw it fly off and stopped to tell me while I was at a red light so I knew where to look. With no luck I called the tire place and told them what happened. The manager said he would get me a new one, 3 weeks later he said the dealer did not know which cap to give him, he asked if I could get it he would reimburse me. I got one and he gave me the cash, I was happy they paid for it since it was close to $100.

Well...the cap I scored for free wasn't a match. Got one off of ebay for a whole lot cheaper than the dealership price. I re-ran my route a few more times, and have to conclude that its gone. I am also leaning more towards it being manually removed (read stolen), because the other three have a pretty tight fit. And for what they are getting on ebay, I can see it as a pretty easy "swipe and sell" item.

A couple weeks ago I hit the mother of all Minnesota pot holes in snow/sleet storm. I never have been jarred that bad. Nothing seems to out of wack though . The truck steers nice ,doesn't pull and hasn't changed anything, no cut tires. Good old DCTD 1 ton dually. But the next day I was checking the air while fueling and the right fromt hub cap is missing. Next week end I drove by where it happend and walked along the road but it was long gone.
Looks like about $100.

I lost one too. Driving on a country road through some pretty deep drifts. The pickup seems to run pretty well without the cap so I've just run it that way for the past five years. Maybe one of these days I'll hit e-bay and buy one.
