Looking at a 95 2500 2wd any advice?

Found a '95 2500 2wd for 6500.
Looks like it's in good shape. I haven't gone to look at it yet, just seen pictures.
It's a plain jane 5 spd 2wd. Anything I should look for?

I'd check the front of the engine around the gear cover for oil leaks. These 12-valve engines have a dowel pin (KDP or "Killer Dowel Pin") that can fall out and land in the gears, cracking the case and causing an expensive repair. If you buy the truck your first project should be to make sure this pin is secured with a tab. Do a search and you'll find dozens of posts about this.

Depending on the miles you may have to spend other money as well. Over 100k things like shocks, fuel and coolant hoses, etc may need replacing. If the truck has had major performance upgrades I'd probably pass as it's lived a hard life.

KDP tab, fuel hoses, brakes (mine are all EGR), this is a mechanical engine (not controlled by an engine control computer) and they are pretty bullet proof although they came stock with a small pump in them. Also 5th gear nut comes loose but an inexpensive fix is available. As Blast Chamber said, look for mods. Most are mechanical and this engine can make some respectable numbers with the right work.

Truck has 163K on the clock. Seller assures me no modifications have been made. Being sold by a dealer on consignment for an older gantleman. He called today to inform me the owner brought in a 2 inch thick stack of maintenance records. I haven't asked about the KDP yet. I want to ask in person.

Sounds like a nice truck, so hopefully the price isn't outrageous. Back when I was looking for my '98 I found a similar condition '99 QC 2500 2wd that was meticulously maintained (older owner) with less than 100k miles. But he wanted $15k for it, so I passed. Then I found my '98 QC 2wd with 140k miles for $9,600.

On Edit.... Ooops, I see you had the price listed as $6,500 in your original post. BUY IT! BUY IT NOW!!!!!

The truck appears to be everything as promised. Very well maintained 1995 2500 2wd regular cab in great condition for being a 12 yo. I drove my Harley from Seattle Washington to Whitefish Montana. Loaded the bike in the truck drove it back. Left Friday after work and got back Sunday about 7:00 pm. This tractor ah I mean truck is awesome!

I guess if you can live with the 2wd it would be a good truck. It probably will get great mpg with very little work.
Being plain jane there is not a lot to go wrong with it. Normal maintenance that's about it.

Add a little sound deadener and some cleanup, lose the muffler and your good for the duration.
