Actually it is quite simple Just take the steering column out, disconnect all the wires from the dash, take the bolts out at the windshield, loosen the bottom bolts, take the dash out. Now you are almost done, just drop the air conditioning and disconnect the heater/air unit and remove it.
Actually you can try to get it out with the unit in the truck, but it is tight and not too pro.
See isn't that easy, now just put it all back together again. I really enjoyed doing mine

Well the core is in! Wasn't a bad job, just time consuming. My oe D/C book just said take the dash and disconnect all the electrical connections. To me that means take everything out of the dash, that's what I did but didn't need to for the method of core removal I chose. I got the dash wired up to the pass grab handle and looked long and hard at the whole procedure of removal to change that P O S core and I decided to just cut the lines and have a union under the dash. And for you critical folks out there yes the claps are good and tight as a matter of fact I used silicone heater hose. I post an update if they leak!!!!!!

Don't worry to hard there is a TSB for the babbling brook noise... My Mom's 1996 Dodge RAM has the noise and I don't worry about it. I just make sure the radiator and the bottle are full. As for the green waterfall that is a failed heater core...
