Re:Leveling/Lift Kit

The Skyjacker 2 1/2" coils are great, it is for leveling our trucks. Its simple and depending on your skills, easy to install (took me an hour, start to finish). I didn't worry about my track-bar being out of wack 1/4", but if you are, you can get a adj track-bar from DT, Skykacker also makes one.

As you goto higher lifts, Skyjackers kits include drop brackets, and eventually, the adjustable track-bar. Check out they're site at www.skyjacker.com

Thanks Rob.

Maybe the coils and an adjustable Bar would solve the problem.

I wonder what warranty I will be in violation for that....

Re:Leveling/Lift Kit

Well, my warrenty is no long valid, but when it was, my dealer never said a word about the springs. One more thing, the 2 1/2" springs netted my truck a solid 2" gain, not the full 2 1/2", however I'm sure that varies.

Later, Rob

Re:Leveling/Lift Kit

Rob,

Did the new coils make any difference in how smooth the ride is going down the highway with no load? A buddy of mine is suggesting I go with the skyjacker coils as well as their rear leaf spring for the 2500 to get a softer ride on the highway. Also, what size tires are you running on your truck? Got any pictures?

Re:Leveling/Lift Kit

I personally am going to go with the springs.

I plan on getting a good sturdy bumper, and I think the stock springs with spacers will get a little too compressed with the added 200+ lbs plus whatever the winch I get weighs.
If it sags the front end down too much, then I can add some spacers to get it back level.

That's is if I don't decide to get an even taller lift, but for right now I just want to level out the front a bit more.

phox

Re:Leveling/Lift Kit

I didnt really notice a smoother ride until I installed the quad shock kit in front, that took all the floatiness out of the front end. I run 315 75 16 BFG A/T's, I have pics in the "member photos" section, under Rob Thomas.............

Re:Leveling/Lift Kit

I looked around and talked to different shops. I ended up just going with the spacers up front.
The ride of the truck go a little stiffer but only by a slight amount.
After the alignment, the truck drives much as it did before the lift. Which wasnt/isnt bad at all.
For pics, check out either the members photo section or:

http://webpages.charter.net/richardb.../thetruck.html

Im going to be looking for better shocks soon, perhaps dual front shocks. But I dont do that much hard off-roading.

Rich.

Re:Leveling/Lift Kit

Tuff Country has a real nice 3" lift kit that you should look into. It'll provide enough room to clear 35s and still look evenly proportioned.
Re:Leveling/Lift Kit

I also put the SkyJacker D25 coils on my 02'. The biggest difference I saw was that these coils do not easily compress like the stock coils did. I did notice a floor vibration at 70mph and then had the tires balanced. However the vibration just moved up to 75mph.

If you haul heavy loads you will look funny with the back of your truck sitting down lower then your front. Shortly after installing the D25's I hauled 7000lbs of hay and it sat my truck down about 3 inches lower than the front. Wish I had air bags.

Truck looks good with the D25 red coils and Rancho 9000's on the rig.
