Killed the Drone
After I had a 4" turbo back exhaust system installed I got the dreaded drone between 2000 and 2300 rpm. I didn't mind the extra noise of the exhaust system but that drone about drove me up wall. After searching the forums for an answer and not finding one I broke down and had a Flowmaster muffler #954055 installed. I wasn't sure if I was throwing away $220 but it was worth a try. To my sheer delight the drone is gone. The exhaust is still louder than the stock system which I dont mind, but drone is definitely gone! I have guages and watched my egt and haven't noticed any higher temps (although I haven't pulled my 10K trailer yet). Just thought I would spread the word about a fix for the drone that works.
