Installing A pillar pod

I am a little confused on installing instructions. There are 2 papers, one shows to install it over the original pillar cover, the other paper says to replace original pillar cover I purchased from Glowshift. Probably no tech support till monday. Has anyone had experience with this. I am working on a 2001 installing triple gauges with speaker hole.

Does the pod have little holes around the perimiter of it? If so it snaps over the existing a-piller.

Mine went on over the original. I'd buy a throw away any color from the JY & keep my original trim piece if I were to do it over. I had to cut away the entire speaker mount to make the new pod fit over the stock. You also have to drill holes in the stock trim. Go with 1/2" or larger holes. Also buy some extra plastic nails from a body shop supply to hold the 2 trim pieces together better.

I prefer removing the OEM pillar cover and installing the gauge one by itself. Mounting is trickier (i'm not too picky so I can a screw up through the pod then into the A-pillar). But I like it because it leaves more room behind for wiring and hoses, JMO.

That's the same reason I have yet to install mine. The speaker bulge causes the guage pillar to line up badly and the instructions are a feel good piece to the kit but are pretty vague. I'll continue to watch this thread for a good solution if it hasn't already been posted!
