Install Pass Window Switch in '01
Hello Folks,
Anyone have basic advice to change out passenger side window switch on '01 Quad Cab? Joyful that back-ordered till end of Aug switch arrived today!! I prefer exterior fresh air over canned except on the hottest days! Plus how else can the dog flap her ears in the wind? Hadn't snooped around door yet but figured someone out there already found the most simple way through this. I'm never afraid to ask advice from the group.
Thank you for your time

i have done this on the driver side. i have also had pass. door panel off and the switch will be the same.
1. take out screws (one near a-pillar, and two in the armrest/handle well)
2. pop off door panel with pry tool or fingers. go slow and pop one fastener at a time
3. don't pull too hard as the harness is not terribly long, pull too hard with the panel loose and you might wreck the harness or plug.
4. compress metal spring tabs from under switch and push it up and out the top of the armrest.
5. unplug switch from harness
6. plug in new switch and repeat steps in reverse order.
straighten out any bent christmas tree fasteners prior to re-installing panel - may save some cursing if trying to line up fasteners with holes in the sheet metal.
hope this helps. no real tips or tricks, but this is what worked for me.

mine pops off without removing the door panel, just slide switch assy to the back of cab and lift up, (my fasteners could be worn as well)I fixed mine by taking it apart and cleaning the contacts, actually quite simple, that was when I first bought my truck 2yr ago...
still working
