Inside rearview mirror removal.

I know how to remove the mirror itself. What I need to know is how to remove the button on the windshield that the mirror attaches to.

Any ideas?

If you are talking about the metal clip that is glued to the window you can use a heat gun or some sort of blow torch, just be very careful not to get the glass to hot or it will distort. When you have got the clip hot enough a flat head screw driver will be able to move the clip right off the windsheild. Hope that helps

My experience with Dodge windshield mounted rear view mirror,
park it facing the afternon sun and it will come off in no time.

I've had to restick the button on my moms Caravan every summer for the last 4 years.

piano wire is what we used at the body shop. It is small and very strong. All you have to do is strangle that little button untill it pops off!!!!

NOSPIN4ME,

I have always used a SHARP razor blade, just work around the entire diameter of the mount slowly a little at a time. All of the sudden it falls in you lap.

not to ruin your day but new windshields come with the button on them.

and yes heat the outside of the windshield with a torch, use piano wire on inside... not trying to pull it off just applying pressure, and dont get the glass to hot or the lami will turn yellow

FYI here in Denton that windshield replaced is 200.00 installed

Yeah I know they come with the button on them. I'm having the glass replaced next week for free, insurance covers it, no deductable.

I'll ask the glass guy to remove the button before he installs the windshield.

The way we remove the metal clip if needed at work is with a heat gun and a pair of pliers that you should grab the clip with and slowly try to twist off as the glue starts to heat up, just be very careful not to get the glass to hot or it will distort it and be sure that you don't try to twist the clip too hard before the glue is hot enough or you will break the glass...You will know when the glue is hot enough to remove.
