infor on replacing heater core 97 3500

Have a 97 3500 that I need to replace the heater core on. There is a good write up and photos for a 2003, would they be close? I don't want to remove the ac if I don't have to. In the write up the guy cut the heater core pipes on the old and new core and slide the old one out and put the new one in splicing the new and old together with hose. Feedback and tips would be appreciated. Greg

or a link to a 97 write up
