Hunk of Plastic Cup Holder Replacement : $80?!!! ***?
98.5 with the drop down holder. I cant justify paying that kind of cash for a plastic part. Anyone know of any cheaper alternative for a replacement?
I dont want the smoothie thing... I want a replacement for the stock unit.

i'm not sure how to explain it... its the little piece that connects the actual cup holder to the upper mounting piece. you can see in the second picture what's missing. compare it to yours and you'll see what i mean

I see what you mean now. Unfortunately for both you and me..... That whole unit is worthless since there is no replacement parts for these things. They make you have to buy the whole enchilada.
Maybe I'll fab up a stainless cover for the slot and mount my light switches and whatever there instead and go with the Geno's Smoothie.

Guys, this happened to my '98 more than once - heavy drinks or a careless girlfriend ( ) popped out the hinge thingy a number of times.
I finally got tired of messing with it so I designed a stainless fix for it that can easily support ~ 30#; last four years = problem solved!

I second the custom fab. I did it with the broken pieces and some fiberglass. I built it up heavier on the edges and drilled out where the tabs on the cupholder connect. Don't go too heavy in the middle though because it has to flex a little to get the tabs in.
With the exception of what looks like cracks in the extension flaps (that thing that was missing on the one pictured) you can't tell mine has been fixed.
Now I gotta figure out what to do about my dash. I think I'll buy new and reenforce with epoxy/glass.
