I keep mine about 10 years. If so, it should have 300K on the clock and I'll be looking right down the barrel of retirement, and a new "Pop-mobile".

I usually don't get rid of vehicles unless they are wrecked beyond repair. The wife wants a new CTD so then maybe I can have the 96 to myself (waiting to seriously BOMB when that happens ;D).
My 78 W200 has over 250K miles on it - the only reason I stopped driving it was that the 96 gets easily twice the fuel mileage and has AC. The 78 still sits in my yard and will continue to be used as the grunt truck - the 96 is too pretty to haul some things in. I figure the 96 will see the top side of 200K in under 2 years - sooner if I get to travel more frequently than I do now. New is good but paid for is better.

I'll keep mine until the engine quits and can't be fixed. Heck, it's paid off, so any repair work would still be cheaper than buying a new one. Besides...Mine's properly valved! (The smilies aren't working, but imagine the cheezy big toothed smile right here!)

I am closing in on 100K now, and am hoping to get triple that out of her before she is retired. Put almost 40K on in the last 2 years, so at least 7-8 more years. Besides, I am just now having fun with her, been BOMB'ing her pretty good last coupla months, and she is now ready for some sled pulling. Was a Ford man for 9 years, now am a Dodge man 100%! Will have to see who has the Cummins when it is time for a new rig, ought to know them well by time I look for another.

Re:How long are you going to keep your truck?
I have two trucks. One is a 93 with 173k miles which I want to get rid of for a 3500 auto 2x4. the other truck is a 94 CTD with 135k miles. It was the first truck I ever bought and I got it in 96 with 45k miles. needless to say it have been a great truck and so far I have never had to fix anything that was not my fault for breaking it. We also own a 78 dodge which we bought in 88. I figure I will keep the 94 until the body falls off and put the engine in my 78 as the 78 is going to be a project truck next year. Hmmm 78 dodge pulling truck ;D

Probably until they pry my cold, dead hands from the steering wheel or until it rusts away. Whichever comes first.

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Re:How long are you going to keep your truck?
Will try and sell mine in January because for reasons too complicated to explain there is a small chance I can get back what I paid for it, mods and all. If I can't sell it, then I plan on keeping it 4evr.

I plan on keeping mine for a really long time! What more can I ask for? It looks really cool, and more power than I really "need". The truck before this, I had for 8 years. If I can keep an under powered VERY thirsty gas powered truck that long, imagine how long I'll keep this one around ;D
I'm actually very curious to see what kind of power I'll be making by then That ought to be interesting!!

I bought my 97 last year with only 104k miles and just turned 112k miles so about 300k miles sounds good so 10 years.

Re:How long are you going to keep your truck?
well all my bills including the truck are paid off in 3 years ...........the truck will be paid for then, so I plan to keep it and keep running it as my dialy beater in it's current form (comp & rv275's) and just keep pounding it over that beautiful road I travel on
but I think I might look for a 12 valve/auto as a toy and bomb the hell out of it ..........700hp with twins would be fun ;D ...........
