How do I take off the a pillar to remove my tweeter?

Hello

I am trying to plan how I will remove/re-install the small speaker(tweeter??) into the new Edge Juice w/Attitude monitor bracket that is formed into the newly purchased overlying A pillar fascia. This fascia already has the circular speaker opening cut out, I just have to relocate the speaker forward.

I don't want to break anything, just trying to figure this out. Again, I think the installation instructions assume this is standard knowledge (here is my sign right!!!) but I will see what I can do.

Thanks in advance.

Joe

the a-pillar just pops off. ive done some that come off really easy and had some that make you think its gonna break because you have to pull so hard so just be careful. the tweeter pops out to once you have the pillar off.

I've installed some pillar pods that just install over the existing pod. You have to drill holes and use push pins to hold it in place.

Dazeys

Have you just left the speaker inplace(in original a pillar) and installed the new edge pod(as an example) directly over the top?

I havent had a chance to try that to see how it would look.

Where did you drill the 2 push locking pin holes?

Please let me know

Thank you -

Joe

Yes I have done a few like that.I drilled the holes one at the top and one at the bottom on the windshield side. The weather strip holds the other side in.

Be careful when popping it off.
Factory service manual says to have a replacement pillar on hand before removing in case you break it (applying to dealer shops)
I've broken the locking tabs on several while removing but have always been able to repair with super glue.

I wouldn't suppose that there's a pillar available that allows you to keep the Infinity speaker position and add a mounting point for an Attitude display is there? The only ones that I have seen so far seem to be for the non-tweeter pillars. ??

I havent tried it yet, but I will assume that by placing the Edge made "a pillar" mount(with the speaker hole/cutout) right over the existing "a pillar" and speaker will be ok? I'm just curious if anyone has a picture of this type of Edge installation?

What would you do?

I like the fact that the original a pillar is of course solid and makes to un-necessary noise caused by damage from previous removal.

Appreciate it!

Thank you for your help!

The Edge A pillar install went quite well.

I started by lifting on the original a pillar at the headliner, and sure enough, it popped off from the various mounts. So to my surprise, I started lifting and pulling lightly and it was removed entirely(less the tweeter wiring). I relocated the tweeter on the new a pillar and installed the Edge monitor in its place. I managed to run the Edge monitor cable behind the original a pillar(beyond the 2 "now joined" a pllar's). After the tweeter and the Edge monitor were installed I drilled the 2 small holes for the ratcheting/lock pins to join the Edge mount pillar to the original Dodge pillar. They were an exact match as far as the overall outside dimensions are concerned. The tweeter hole is NOT an exact match. The Edge pillar has the tweeter location slightly higher to make room for the monitor.

Well the re-installation was tricky, but I managed and it seems to be just fine!

Again, thank you for everyone's help! I could not have built the confidence for this installation if it were not for everyone's assistance.

I owe you guys!

Joe
