Higher RPMs

It seems as though this truck runs at a much higher RPM than my 03. I am seeing about 2500 RPM when running 60 - 65 MPH. Is this normal?

sounds like you have different gear ratios in the two trucks. prolly, like 4:10 in the new one and 3:55 in the old one.

Just took a friend out for lunch, he thought I probablly had the 4:10 as well. Anyway for me to identify if it is 4:10 or 3:54?

See if there is a tag held on the diff.cover by 2 bolts , you may need to clean off with wire brush to read numbers, if no tag then get this info off truck , tire sixe, RPM at a speed with no load and flat ground then do a search here , you should find a chart that will tell you the ratio with that info.

Is the build tag still intact on the under side of the hood near the latch?.....If so, the axle gear ratio is listed there. FWIW, if you have the stock 215 tires or not, it sounds like you have 4.10's if it is revving 2500 rpm at 65 mph.

Geez. 2500 at 65? I'm turning 2500 at 105. I'm almost willing to bet money on it that you have 4.10's. Throw some bigger tires on there and that will help bring the revs down a little.

Is it possible its not locking thr tq converter? Mine runs close to that in tow/haul mode. I run about 1700 @ that speed with 3:73s.

Another way to find your ratio is too look on the inside of your glovebox. There should be a white sticker with the ratios as well as a few other options.
