High speed drivetrain problem...
This morning I had been on I-90 for 35 miles at 65 mph, in OD, locked up of course. Outside air temp around 10 degrees. I started up a slight grade, and pushed on the pedal as I pulled out around a slower car. The truck started to buck or "chuggle" as long as I pushed on the pedal. If I got off of it and returned to cruise it went away. I exited the interstate, paid the toll, and jumpped on it. It tooked off like a violated primate and showed none of above symptoms. Does this sound like a fuel delivery problem or a transmission problem, and do you think the air temp has anything to do with it? I never experienced it before.

It does sound to me like the lift pump is starting to go. My 2001 acts the same way. When it first starts going, I can hardly feel a buck or surge, under acceleration only, and not all the time. Under normal highway cruise control speeds, it'd seem fine. As time would go on, it'd get worse, and sometimes hardly pull itself away from a stoplight. At any case, I think I'd check lift pump pressures fairly soon. I fyou've been reading other posts, a bad lift pump can knock out your injection pump. And you don't want that bill!

Is it possible your fuel was gelling a little? I don't know as I do not live in a cold climate.

But, my first gut instinct says TC shuddering.

Maybe someone out there is a little better versed.

Dave

Commatoze: When you are driving in OD, locked up, and you goose it, the TC is supposed to unlock (more than, say, 75% throttle) so that you don't do damage to the tranny with all that torque. I'm kind of thinking like Fishin, and maybe your TC is not unlocking under heavy throttle. Just a thought.

DeWain

After I got the comp, I noticed that everytime I would romp on it from 55 on, it would shutter like a mo fo. I thought it was the TC. I got a FP gauge on it and noticed that it would drop down to 0 when I would mash it. Well, I had the pump replaced and the truck has yet to shudder. When the electronics in my tranny went out, I had the guy check it out and he said that there were no shavings in the fluid, the clutches were fine, and it didn't smell like anything was burning. Everything looked just fine. I could get the truck to shudder with the comp off also. So it may just be your lift pump going out. I'd check the FP.

Yep we had the same thing. Mother has a 99 2500 sport.. At first it worked fine sometimes and others it would start doing that at about 70 and pretty soon it got down to you couldnt drive it. What happened was bad fuel. Cost us like 400 bucks to get the systemed cleaned. Just a thought Say... Whats everyone getting for mileage? were down to about 15
