help with vibration
I am a new member to the site, and I hope someone can help me with a vibration problem. I recently purchased a 00 2500 quad 4x4 5speed, everything was fine till about a week ago. I seem to have developed a slight vibration at highway speeds, I seems to go away when I release the accelerator. I thought it was a u joint going bad, so I pulled the drive shaft and checked the ujoints , which were fine. It feels like it is in driveline and not a tire or suspension issue. The truck only has 65,000 miles on it , so I'm hoping there is not a problem with the trans or transfer case, or differential. Has anyone experieced a problem similar to this? help!!!

Re:help with vibration
I second that opinion, since the Ram does not have front hubs the axle U-joints turn all the time, and wear out faster then the drive shafts.

Re:help with vibration
Does the vibration occur a a certain speed, only under load or at specific rpm range? Does it diminish when coasting only, or under engine braking? Noticed any oil leaks at the rear of the transfer case, or at the pinion seal on the rear diff? Just a thought, but checked the driveshaft yoke (at t-case ext. housing) for excess play? A worn bushing in the t-case will allow the slip yoke to wobble, and cause vibration/noise - although usually worse while coasting, not under load (in my experience). Both my front axle u-joints were gone @ 20K miles, but didn't cause vibration - just popping in turns. My driveshaft was out of balance from factory (had a slight bend too), which made a really irritating vibration at 65-68 mph. ... just my .02...<br>-Scott
