well try this on a hot day when the glue behind is warm get a fishing line or dental floss and start at a corner and sorta see saw back and forth and see if this will cut through the glue. shouldnt do any paint damage pending how long they have been on and color of your truck you may have a color difference. once you get them off take the truck to a good detail shop they have some good cleaners to take the glue off and buff and work your clear coat if that is the direction your going after you take them off. I sprayed my rocker panels with bedliner originally due to the ammount of chips. good luck

I just got done with this on my truck about a month ago before i painted it. What i did was take a heat gun, apply a little heat and use a fillet knife to cut through the glue behind the stainless. I started at the top and worked my way down. I had to sharpen my knife several times throughout this process. Try not to pull hard on the stainless as i was told by my body man as you could create waves on your metal. This job requires ALOT of patience and time. It pulled the paint of on several places on my truck especially on the doors. Good Luck, hope i helped.
