Headlights wont shut off?
Yesterday driving home from the other end of the state in a fairly decent snowstorm. I found that my headlights would not shut off. I also had some trouble with the bright indicator. It would dim some but not go out when switching between high and low beams, sometimes not all. Bigger problem is headlights stay on all the time had to pull the fuses last night after I got home. Too tired and cold to look at it last night.
I realize the switch is a common issue and will look at it but wonder if it is the switch since it is not turning them off. I would think a failed switch would keep them from coming on.
Any ideas of places to start looking?

I'd still bet on the switch. It gets pretty hot when in use and may be the problem, also the headlights IIRC are negative switched, basically grounded when 'on'.
If your hi-beams were acting up you may also want to check out the multifunction switch, ie the turn signal lever.

if you have daytime running lights (DRL) the moduel will fry causing the lights to stay on, and if the DLR is unplugged everything will work properly except the hi-beam indicator will not work
