Headlight switch bulb...where??
Hey guys, wonderful site...I've been lurking for a while now just reading and learning.
Anyway, my headlight switch bulb is shot and I need to get a new one. I checked Advance Auto, Napa, and the wonderful dealer, and nobody has ever even seen one. Dealer says they don't even list the bulb, but he'd be happy to sell me a whole new $66 switch. Is that my only option.
BTW, the bulb is the little gray plastic screw in thing on the back of the switch w/ the little bulb on the end of it.
Thanks, Colin

Good question. I am also looking for this same light bulb and dealer also tried to sell me a complete light switch. Interestingly, the bulb on the light switch in my Explorer is also burned out and it looks enough like the one in my truck that I think it will work. But, Ford dealer wants something like $15 for this stupid little bulb.

After no luck I ended up taking the the bulb out of a bad fog light switch.
It had to be unsoldered then soldered into the headlight switch.
Two autoparts shops were unable to find a match for a new one but I'm certain if a person tried hard enough they could come up with the correct bulb.

If you will take the bulb out and make a trip to Radidio Shack, you can match up a fitting bulb. A littel bulb bombing is required to make it fit properly (you have to trim the wire leads off of the bulb and bend the leads to fit their corresponding mating points). It can be done cause I replced my foglight indicator bulb over 80000 miles ago and it is still burning brightly. Bulb cost 2-3 bucks....
Good luck!!!!
