Headlight relay harness.....NEED RELAYS.

Last winter I installed the upgraded headlight relay harness from summit. this fall, the high beams quit working. Now the low beams quit. I have new bulbs, new headlight switch and harness(old one melted). They did work when I tapped on the relays.....but only for a minute. Now nothing. I have power up two the relay, but nothing after it. So i guess i need new relays, but when I went to NAPA, the only ones with the 4 pin configuration were $30-40 EACH. The entire harness was only $30. Where should I look for new relays or is that not my problem??????? Please help...I can only drive my truck during daylight hours, which means I'll have to leave work early, i guess this isn't a problem after all.

Suggestions......
Thanks

Will the plug take a 5 pin relay? I picked up a 5 pin universal for my headlights for $6. Works the same as the 4 pin.

it is a four pin relay. i am talking about the two relays on the aftermarket harness, there are two. So if i can use a 5 pin, do i just cut off the 5th pin, because it wont fit the harness otherwise. The config of the pins look like this ==
I'll do some more searching and check with radio shack. Thanks

I think they are standard Bosch 30 amp relays.

Could you tell me a little more info? The relays in the harness are just some cheap chinese relays, that have no real id on them,

How would i get a hold of a standard bosch 30A, I am sure there are several different pin configs out there.

Thanks

I had this problem with my Summit harness a little over a year ago. All I had to do to fix the problem was remove the relays, clean them to remove all oxydation and reassemble using dielectric grease. They have worked flawlessly ever since.

Do you have a local big rig shop or electronics supplier, like that has random parts and stuff? I would just take it in there to them and they should know what to get you.

mishkaya,

i'll go out and try that before i go to work. the harness plug did look a litte scummy/oxidized. I'll see if that helps. Thanks

I'll talk with you all later, gotta get the dogs gathered and go to work.
I'll check at work.
thanks

I cleaned up the contacts and still no lights. I tested everything again. On the harness for the relay, I have power at the terminal which comes from the battery and the white wire coming from the Headlight switch(i'm guessing).
Something is not letting the relay throw the switch to power the wires going to the bulbs. Am I still correct that I'm looking at a bad relay?
They do not click when power is applied. Other relays will click, at least others I have dealt with.

No click = bad relay AFAIK.
