did the mothers remove the "clear coat" peeling efect? If so, might be able to do that then clear coat them ?

I got a headlight refinishing kit from Wally World that did a decent job on my last truck's headlights. Basically you sand off the hazy top coat and repolish the plastic. It was $20 and has enough to do 2-3 sets.

all it really did was help clear up the part of the lens that lost the "clear coat" made them look not so yellow-ish.

I get the yellow haze, enough to make a difference in the light output. I made a pad out of a piece of old carpet, backed by a piece of flexible plastic, a bolt through the center for a arbor. I put some rubbing compound on the disc and let the lens have it, using a battery powered drill. Follow it with polishing compound and there will be a difference. Takes about 10 minutes.

Has anyone tried "reclearcoating" them after cleaning them up ? Took a lot of years to get this way--be nice of they would go years again after re-clearcoating them ??

Polished mine out with 2000 grit wet paper then medium compound with a wool disk. Coated with a good polish. They have lasted well over a year now. Could probably use a re do with some compound now. May do it this winter.

I recently had this problem. I sanded mine starting with 800 wet and finishing with 2000 wet sandpaper. I then polished them with 3M (or something) and they are like new. I have not re-clearcoated them but they don't seem to be fading. It has only been 6 months but it made a huge difference.

I also polished them.
