head lights intermittenly out

Driving along and my low beams will go out, for no apparent reason. Flash my highs and they work but I have to do it a couple times for the low beams to start working again. I never happens close to home so that I can diagnose this. Is the high beam switch in the steering column a common problem? Any other ideas? Two days it will be fine and then it will happen twice in one hour

Mine does the same thing. Not a good fealing when your driving through the hill country. The contacts are dirty in the multi-function switch. They say you can spray some contact cleaner in the switch while operating it several times. I havent fixed mine yet.

Common problem due to the open design of the hi-low switch allowing gunk into the contacts. Happens more often on rigs where the brights are used rarely.
Aerosol electronic cleaner works for me.
You can prevent it by occasionally flipping the brights off and on, lights don't need to be on.

I have the same problem, do you spray the electrical cleaner directly in the steering column from the turn signal. Take things apart and then clean??? I'm hoping I don't have to take apart as I have a gauge pod on top of the column.

Thanks.

You can do it without taking anything apart.

MY 99 has the same issue, I just flash the Hi beams and it goes away...well until the next day. I'll have to try the spray.
