Angry Got locked out again !

Okay guys, this sucks. I was loading the truck this morning throught the passenger door. I leaned over to start the engine to let it warm up a little before I left. Something happens when you start the engine. If the drivers side door is closed and the truck is started, then the door locks engage (both sides). Locked myself out. Luckily I was able to get into my house and grab the spare key.

Now here is the question, does anyone know how to disable the door lock when the engine is started? It won't do it if the drivers side door is open.

I have a friend who installed a hidden switch that opens his doors. Soon as he shows me which wire to splice into I'll post it.

That would be cool. However, anyone know how to kill the self engaging door locks?

The dealer can change the settings for you. They can disable the auto door lock feature.

Disabling rolling locks:

1.Close all doors
2.Place the key in the ignition and cycle the key from the OFF position to ON four times ending in the ON position,do not start the truck.
3.Press the driver's side power door lock switch to the LOCK the doors within 30 seconds.
4.You will hear a single chime. Roll lock deactivated.
5.Follow the same steps to activate again.

I am trying to avoid that hassle. Lets just say the local Dodge dealer here ain't exactly 5 star.

Dr. Evil, that is the wrong door lock event. The 15mph lock I am alright with, no problems there. I want to disable the door lock event immediately after engine startup.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm?

My truck never locked the doors when the engine was started until I put my Viper in,
it only did the rolling locks thing.

It won't, however, lock them if a door is open when it is started.

Sounds like an aftermarket alarm wired only in to the drivers door circuit ..?

My DEI manufactured alarm does that (if no doors are open). What does your keyfob look like?

That is probably it. i would never have even thought of the alarm system.

CONDENSR, my fob is made by KARR. I am going to get the model number off of the alarm "brain" box and get the manual for it. And see if I can reprogram it.
