Going to Look at One-Need Advise!

Going to look at a truck tomorrow and was wanting some expert advise on what to look for/look out for on this particular truck...have always been a 12v guy and know them pretty well. This is an 01 2500 LB with HO 6speed. I dont know if it's an 01.5 or early...it has 170k on it. Looking at photos on the computer, it doesnt have any guages in it (I'm assuming it's a virgin) and the drivers seat edge is wearing some (I've seen worse). I guess some of what I need to know is:
How can I tell if the LP or 44 have been replaced? If it has an aftermarket LP, where would it be on the truck? I know where to find the '53' stamp, but is the KDP an issue on this series? I will, of course be looking for obvious leaks, etc. ANYTHING you kind ladies and gentlemen can share is greatly appreciated!!
I just hope this small dealer will make me a deal on trading in my 03!!

I think in 01 they started putting disc brakes on the rear, from what I hear some 01's have them and some dont, you might check that out. Kinda like the 98's had a 12 early on and 24 valve later. good luck

I don't know if it's the case with all of them, but my VP44 has a reman sticker right on it.

01.5 designated the beginning of the rear disc brakes. it'll also have two piece bump guards on the doors if its a quad, a silver radio antenna and no rear cup holder or lighted ignition ring. As for the aftermarket LP it is probably mounted on the inner frame rail close to the fuel tank, as these pumps push fuel better than pull it. The VP may be a replacement but it is hard to tell if the dealer did it. I've heard the replacements are id'd by a sticker that says 'reman' on them that is tamper proof. If the dealer did a vp/lp replacement, the new lp should be in the fuel tank, that's where they are req'd to put them if its warranted. Good luck, Kurt

I guess times were tough.... imagine having to delete the lighted ignition ring and the rear cup holder.
Wonder if they advertised that in their new & improved ad campaigns?

Thanks for your responses, guys...but the truck was sold the same day the ad came out. Once again, ol' BC is a day late and a dollar short!
Been searching for the right 12v, but I've about given up. Looking at 01-02 trucks now. Found an all-orig 01 that's been meticulously maintained by a dealership with all books/record and only 85k on it! BUUUT...it's a bunch of money...like well more than my 03 is worth. Is it worthwhile to step waay up for a low mileage un-tampered truck, or a higher mile BOMBer? I dunno...either way, my 03 needs a new home. Nice truck, but it's snowing like mad outside and I'm not leavin' the house!
