Gearshift Linkage Loose?

Have any of you guys with automatic transmission had to replace some of the bushings on your gearshift linkage to get them to stop making the tapping and knocking sounds?.....I found the bushing on mine that is worn out that is causing it to rattle, but I'm just wondering how hard it is to replace.....It's the bushing that is part no.3 mounted close to the transmission housing in the link that is posted below.....Anybody ever had to replace these? How hard is it to get it out?

Thanks for any information.....

None of the linkage is really all that hard to get out. Might be wise to order a few other bushings if possible so you can replace the ones you need to take apart. I've found after 10 years or so, they might not like being reused. So take a look at what you need to undo, then order those bushings I'd say.

i would def agree. there is nothing that draws curse words like" I should have known better" , on another note, you can always return them if you don't need them...
my $.02.

Thanks for the input guys....I would have bought a few of the bushings, but the only problem I have with it is the cost.....They wanted a ridiculous amount for just one of these bushings that is bad.....It was $34.00 for one..

I'm just wondering if they jacked the price up on them because they are the ones that are so common to wear out in the gearshift linkage...I ordered it from http://parts.mopar.com/

Only place I could find it & it had a diagram with it.....

If there is a pretty good NAPA parts store near by you could try taking one of your old bushings down there and maybe match up with one or at least near enough that you can drill out or modify to fit. Not rocket science so close enough is usually good enough, at least down on the farm it was.
