I was wondering if anyone elses gearshift on a manual trans ( 6-speed) makes a buzzing sound? This is very irritating. I can spin the **** and tighten or loosen it up and it quits for a minute of two but then starts again.
Is there any easy fix for this. The dealer said that they would have to tear it competely down to fix it.. Big $$$ just for a buzzing sound. Thanks...

after posting this I went out and to my truck and took off the whole shifter ****. I found that there is a nut inside the **** that apparently threads onto the gear sift shaft.
i also qiuckly found out that the little pattern plate that covers the **** is next to impossible to pry off without butchering the whole darn thing.
the good news is that I found the source of the buzzing.
The bad news is that now i need a new shifter ****.

 

I had this problem. There is a lock nut under the cap on the shifter. take it out as its not needed and the buzzing will go away

 

Sorry, didnt finish reading. If you use some heat and a small flat screwdriver you can get the cap back in.
