fuel tank filler tube?
Just a quick question... I installed a bed lift for my flat bed. during the install I had to cut the fuel filler tube to a shorter lenth to allow the bed to raise. the question will be, when i took out the fill tube there was a green ball in the tube near the tank side of the tube. do i need this device or is it extra baggage. Peaple keep talking about getting their tank getting checked for off road fuel, this ball will stop that from happening. Can someone tell me about this.... By the way the bed lift is the cats *** I will post pics soon. DAN.

It's the check ball.
I'ts supposed to keep fuel from spilling out all over the place should you be unlucky enough to roll the truck over.
No, if it kept them from dipping the tank, it would also keep you from filling the tank.

It's called the rollover ball, you only need it if you plan on your truck being upside down.
Without it you can fill the tank faster and siphon it out if needed.
Disadvantage is you can siphon it out.
If the revenuers want to test your fuel it makes no difference if the ball is there or not.
