I'm trying to think of what you are talking about. Do you mean the pivot for the float? I can't think of anything else that moves in there. This is a brand new unit so I'd think it would work OK for a while, at least.

Ok when you take the unit out from the top of the tank there is an upper portion and the lower section slides into the upper section and is held in place by three screws that allow it to slide up and down. Mine was all warn so I replaced the screws with screws that do not have a sholder and put washers under them to lock it in place. Of course you have to get it adjusted so that it is on the bottom of the tank. The whole unit is replaceable but it is quite expensive, the part man tried to sell it to me.

 

OK, now I get it. I don't know about that though. I noticed it slid, but didn't think much of it. I'll have to look at it a little closer next time I pull the tank. That may not be for 2 weeks or so though. Gotta go to Cali next weekend and won't be back for a week. :'(

Hi All- I dropped my fuel tank again yesterday and pulled out the canister to inspect the float.......I was sure to carefully inspect how it was sitting and I noticed the fulcrum was up against the side of the tank preventing the float to swing freely. I tested for contact by hooking up the connection and lifting the float manually...it worked!!

I noticed an arrow on the top of the canister and 2 hash marks, and was carefull this time when tightening down the Plastic lid to keep the canister in position. I filled up the tank and it registers full! I will have to see how the level reads as I use the tank of fuel....I hope it doesn't stay on full like Stameys did!!!

Since my gauge is bad too (waiting for my sending unit, is on order right now) I would like to add the comment that you can see the erratic behaviour in the PCM while pulling codes. The code stays stored. It reads "input high or open circuit on fuel gauge sending unit" and tells you that it's not hte instrument cluster that's misbehaving.
