Front wheel spacers??

I just put on new wheels & tires. They are 16x8" wheels w/ 285/75/16 tires. When I had the front wheels off I noticed there were some sort of spacers on the hubs of the rotors. Since the new wheels & tires stick out past the fenders abit & rub on the back wheel well/step bars :-X, I was wondering if I could remove the spacers to move the tires in abit

Re:Front wheel spacers??

I think I remember something about Dodge adding spacers to some trucks to correct an alignment problem.

Usually was a spacer on one side or the other, not both sides.
Unless they are of different thicknesses maybe.

Did you purchase the vehicle new, or used?

I had to put spacers on my '74 Ford fronts to keep the aftermarket rims from rubbing on something.
Was so long ago I don't remember why I put them on.

Re:Front wheel spacers??

I remember reading something about that on here a long, long time ago. I remember it being on only one side too.

Re:Front wheel spacers??

I GOT A 99 AND DON'T HAVE ANY SPACERS. I HAVE 33,12.5X16'S ON 16 X 10 WHEELS. I WILL SAY THIS, THEY SCRUB A LITTLE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE & NOT AT ALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.I AM ABOUT TO ADD A 2.5 INCH SKYJACKER WHICH SHOULD FIX IT.

Re:Front wheel spacers??

It should not hurt any thing if you remove them, so try it and see if all is well.

Re:Front wheel spacers??

Update, the spacer is only on the right side, so it won't help my clearance problem. The tires are only rubbing on the step bars, so I'll have to figure on doing something else. Thanks for the imput though.
