Front end clunking

My front suspension has been clunking for quite some time now. The ball joints are tight. My question is what usually need to be replaced when your front end starts to clunk after hitting little bumps in the road. Also if your on the interstate and hit a rough transition it feels like the front end wobbles. Any suggestions?

Track Bar upper joint/mount. The most common items on these. In fact I just replaced mine.

Oh when you go to check it out, have a friend help. Leave the motor off and have someone move the steering wheel back and forth while you lay under the front of the truck. If it's bad, you should see the joint moving around.

One of my clunks was the rod that went to the trans from the shifter. Put some grease and fixed it. All good suggestions though.

I remember something similar like clunking from the front end of my 95 DTD 4X4. Every time I hit a bump I could feel it in my steering wheel. I did some on line checking an found a post regarding a clunk in the steering shaft. The shaft moves up and down with movement of the front end. The fix was using plastic tie being slipped into the sleeve (where the rubber boot is) to take up the slack/ play between the inner and outer shaft. I did just that and it corrected my clunking felt in the steering. I also check the suspension and it was tight. Its worth a check anyway.
Note: My fix was done even after dodges steering shaft fix, sometime back,to correct separating of the steering shaft, not the side to side play.

A fresh steering stabilizer could help some, too. While you're down there!
