frame/unibody damage
I am looking at purchasing a 2002 dodge 1 ton dually. It is a six speed and has less than 30,000 miles on it but it has a bad engine. After running an autocheck on it I noticed that it was flaged for frame/unibody damage. The seller states that it is declared to have frame damage if a fifth wheel plate is welded to the frame. Has anybody ever heard of that or is the seller trying to pull a quick one on me.
I have contacted the local dealerships about the possibility of waranty and they stated that the waranty was voided. They can't tell me why it was - the seller states it was because they chipped it. He thinks it is a #5 wrist pin.

Vehicles get flagged for frame damage because the insurance company paid for frame damage. I have a Dodge Stratus that was totaled and repaired and it will never show up on carfax, autocheck, or any other service like that because it did not have insurance and I repaired it myself. If that car had insurance it would come up as frame/unibody damage. If the truck was properly repaired it would not be a problem untill you want to sell it and the next person does a carfax on it. With a bad engine and a dirty title I would think that you would have to really steal this truck to be a good deal.
