Final Desision

Aight i got it down to two trucks, I was lookin for a 24v cause i like my other one. Ive never owned a 12v, If anyone could choose what would you buy? the 99 is 19k and the 97 is 10500, both with about 150,000 miles. Keep in mind im gonna be doing a lot of HP mods. Hence why i wanted the 24 v

Re:Final Desision

I ended up with a 24V just because it was the right deal at the right time. But I wouldn't have hesitated to buy a 12V. That $8500 could buy a lot of mods...

Russ

Re:Final Desision

No contest, get the 12Valve. No VP44 and lift pump concern all you need to do is the KDP fix and start the Mod's.

Re:Final Desision

Another thing, $19K seems high for a '99 with 150K miles on it. I bought my '99 (4x4, auto, longbed, every option but leather) with 86K miles for $18K out the door.

Just something to think about.

Russ

Re:Final Desision

Yep both 4x4. The 99 has a 3 in lift and a ez comp set up and larger tires aftermarket rims. heated Lth all the nifty stuff, the 12v is basic. Maybe thats the big diffrence. The things that ive read though, the 98.5-2000 has a turbo good up to 400 hp, and then you have all the obvious comp mods.

Re:Final Desision

If I had to do it over, I'd go with a 12 valve. A lot easier and cheaper to upgrade than a 24 valve. Plus you don't have to worry bout the lift pump or VP44.

I've got a 98.5, 4X4, SB, 5 Spd, about 83K, stock that I'm thinking of selling to upgrade to the '03. I was planning on asking around 19.5 for it.

PM me for more details if you're interested.

Mine? Maybe - but seems to be in the ballpark

Based on what I've seen in the papers around here. Probably optimistic, but I have to start somewhere.

I didn't post the whole picture so that's why I told him to PM me if he was interested.

Re:Final Desision

19,500 is definitely too much for that truck. That's about what I paid for my '96, Ext Car, 4X4, 5spd, SLT but mine only had 36,000 miles on it! BTW I bought it Dec. 2002.

John
