Exhaust TOO LOUD

:'( I have a straight pipe spit into duals. I pull a gooseneck horse trailer and the sound is deafening. (I love it but its too loud you cant hardly carry on a conversation in the cab.) I have stock pipes what is a good free flow muffler that will fit the pipes and not empty my wallet. Thanks

Re:Exhaust TOO LOUD

Dynomax makes a good kit for a reasonable price. It includes a muffler and 4" tailpipe and chrome tip. It hooks up just after the resonantor. The muffler is supposed to be a good fit for flow and noise reduction and the 4" tailpipe is more than adequate.

Good luck.

J-eh

I can't seem to get a link to work to Dynomax's site. I'll keep poking around.

Re:Exhaust TOO LOUD

You might want to try the Magna Flow, it's free flowing and sounds good.
Big dawg

Re:Exhaust TOO LOUD

I've got a 4" straight thru muffler sitting in my garage. I'm debating on selling it.

Slightly off topic, but here is one good reason to have a loud exhaust:

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...;threadid=8467

Rich

I have my stock convertor, with dual 3.5" into 6" long mufflers that are inside the 6.5" tips. I get a cool tone around 2000 rpm.

jt

I did this and the exaust noise is all gone. It is just about as quiet as stock. Worked on mine.

Re:Exhaust TOO LOUD

If you run the flow master long enough it will be a straight pipe..LOL

Notice all the fiberglass in there??? Well thats a great diesel particulate filter isn't it... After some good smoke shows and heavy loades that muffler should weight about 100Lbs and be full of soot.

The diesel application mufflers are only filled with steel baffles and not fiberglass for this reason. The Dynomax stuff is supposed to be pretty good.

J-eh

Re:Exhaust TOO LOUD

Lil dog, I may have misread your post but Flowmasters have no packing they are chambered. So I would think that they would be an ideal muffler for a diesel set up.

John
